Parks in Nottingham

Local parks

Almost every area of Nottingham has a park nearby. The Lenton Recreation Ground is a favourite with students for relaxing and socialising when the sun comes out. Closer to the city centre is the award winning Arboretum Park, perfect for enjoying a spot of tranquillity amongst the bustle.

Further afield

There are a number of county parks close to Nottingham which are great for long walks and enjoying nature at its finest. These include:

"The city itself is really picturesque in parts, with lovely park areas and some quaint old buildings."

Reserves

Whether you want to hike in the countryside, play the tourist or even fly through the trees on a zip wire (GoApe at Sherwood Forest), these reserves have something for everyone:

Outdoor activities

If you fancy a break from walking, hire a canoe or rowing boat at Highfields Lake (University Park Campus) during the summer. Lovely for relaxing between lectures. Another great activity is a trip to the Twycross Zoo, aka The World Primate Centre, for a day out with a difference.
